- Capsis Bristol Boutique hotel, the first boutique hotel of Thessaloniki in one of the city’s most historical buildings
- Capsis Astoria hotel, the most centrally located hotel in Heraklion Crete
It all began in the early 1930s in Egypt, where the Capsis family established its first Hotel, the Capsis House Egypt. Thirty years later, Thanos and Marika Capsis, founded one of the first hotel chains in Greece, the Capsis Hotels Chain.
The company’s first property was Capsis Astoria Hotel, which operated in 1966 in the center of Heraklion, Crete’s capital city. Then, in 1970 Capsis Hotel Thessaloniki opened to the public, which up to this day is the largest city hotel in Northern Greece with an extended convention center.
Apart from the two above, Thanos and Marika Capsis established and operated other hotel properties throughout the years and contributed greatly to the development of Greek tourism and Greek hospitality during its early stages.
In 1986 Marika Capsis passed away and her younger daughter Lena Capsis took over the company’s two city hotels, Capsis Astoria in Heraklion and Capsis Hotel in Thessaloniki. In the years to follow Lena Capsis continued working with innovative spirit and optimistic vision, and with hard effort managed to leave her own personal mark in the history of Greek hospitality.
Capsis Hotel Thessaloniki, 50% of which was owned until the early 1990s by the Varda family, was entirely bought by Lena Capsis and after undergoing a complete renovation was upgraded from a 3 to a 4 star facility. It remains up to this day one of the most known hotels in Thessaloniki, which in the years has hosted various important social, business and political events and meetings in its extended conference facilities and has welcomed thousands of guests and many world knows personas in its 407 rooms and suites.

Many gatherings of political or social nature have taken place in the premises of the Capsis Astoria, a hotel which throughout the years has undergone through numerous renovations and has had the honor to receive and accommodate in its 131 rooms important guests from all over the world.
The older may remember the historic Discotheques “Piper”, which operated in both hotels during the past. Today the Pool Bars, which operate during the summer season in the Roof Gardens of both hotels, The RoofTop Piscina in Capsis Hotel Thessaloniki and The Aegean View RoofTop Bar in Capsis Astoria Heraklion are two very popular venues for entertainment, relaxation and leisure
In the late 1990s, Lena Capsis founded the first Boutique Hotel in Thessaloniki, The Capsis Bristol Boutique Hotel. Housed in one of the city’s most important historical buildings in the traditional district of Ladadika, Capsis Bristol Boutique Hotel, with its 20 rooms and suites is recognized as one of the most luxurious and cozy hotels in Thessaloniki.
The 21st century finds Capsis Hotels on a new path. The management and operation of the company has passed to the third generation, who faces the challenge of adjusting to the trends, developments and standards of modern hospitality, while preserving the vision, philosophy and core values of the Capsis family.
